PRISON REFORM COALITION

OUR MISSION

The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition (EBRPPRC) advances solutions and works collaboratively with criminal justice coalitions to reduce mass incarceration and to uphold the basic human rights of those incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and their families through education, advocacy, transparency and accountability.

OUR VISION

In our vision, all citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish live in safe, thriving communities where incarceration is rare and every person has the opportunity to succeed.  The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison is a safe and secure environment for both law enforcement and those incarcerated.

OUR VALUES

We believe that each citizen of East Baton Rouge Parish has inherent worth and can contribute to a vibrant, safe community.  The values below further this belief and lie at the heart of our work.  They inform our overarching policy goals and shape our daily interactions with community members, advocates, practitioners, East Baton Rouge Parish leaders, and policy-makers.

HOW WE DO OUR WORK

We conduct policy research and analysis on issues impacting the criminal and juvenile justice systems feeding into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

We draft policy proposals and make recommendations on relevant issue areas concerning the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

We form effective partnerships with key stakeholders on both sides of the aisle to improve conditions at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

We lift the voices of those who are entangled in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison system, who work in the system, and who are striving to improve the system.
